Goals On Fleek

As I sit here right now with a full cup of my favorite coffee: black, and a delicious waffle that I made myself on my new waffle iron, I feel thankful and inspired.  After the first week of 2016 has already passed us by, it is kind of crazy to me. Every year that passes, I feel the same way: shocked that it has gone so fast. I always sit and wonder how I can make myself better in the next new year and how I can reflect on what has been done wrong in the previous year. There are a couple of goals that I am taking on in 2016 that I thought I would share. They're fun and lighthearted and that's what I think is the best part of it. Let me share them with you.

Eating Healthy

I had to get this one out of the way first because it's so typical and annoying. Not only for myself do I want to eat healthy and let go of a little more weight, but my best friend is getting married in March and I want to look damn good in my dress. I honestly already know that I'll most likely look like the fattest one in the wedding party and I don't think that even if I lost a ton of a weight, I would feel good about myself. But that statement alone is something I also want to change about myself for 2016.

I need to make myself more positive somehow. I think I may have jumpstarted this goal last year, but it needs to be buttressed by a little more effort in 2016. I know that on more occasions than one (a lot more occasions) I am extremely self-depricating and I don't appreciate it, but it just seems okay and I know it's not. I want to make that better. This is not just about my weight or anything, but it's everything about me. I want to make the most out of life and my experience, hopefully this will help in achieving a positivity goal for 2016.

Money Challenge

I want to be smarter with my money this year. As I have gotten older, I have been able to learn the real value behind saving more than spending. That doesn't mean that I haven't spent the hell out of my money, because that is what's making me want to save more. I am going to be doing this exact challenge that I found online a year or so ago. I saw it and I said to myself, "this is so manageable" and by the end of the year you would have subconsciously saved over $1000. Who doesn't absolutely love that idea? Also, hello Christmas presents for myself (and another people ;)).

Making Lunch

One of my goals for this year is to make lunch and bring it with me more. I have to say, I have done a great job so far this year being that it's only about a week and a half in! I have been making hummus wraps with a ton of vegetables and chicken, so delicious. I have also been bringing a couple of different fruits for snacks and thats been it! I've enjoyed being able to do this because I don't have to spend so munch money buying lunch and I can use that money elsewhere or save it (even better). I can even put that money towards the money challenge above.

Reading Challenge

With a couple colleagues of mine, I have decided to take on the Popsugar Reading Challenge for 2016. I have never done a reading challenge before and I have never set a goal to read a certain amount of books because I already read a lot. I like the idea of doing this though because I am able to more easily measure what I'm reading and how much of it. The Popsugar reading challenge is set at 40 books but I want to challenge myself to read a book a week. I think I can do it. No, I know I can do it. I am excited about this because I already read a lot and having a goal makes it that much better! If you would like to join me on the journey, please do! Here is my Goodreads account where I will be chronicling my progress.

What goals are you setting for yourself this year? I like to think of them that way rather than a resolution. It makes it more enjoyable and easier measurable.
