3 INGREDIENT, HOMEMADE GRANOLA BARS | NO BAKE

I had been scouring the internet looking for some recipes for healthy desserts because I am tired of the same old thing.  Can you agree with me?  I mean really, it does get kind of boring eating the same fruits and vegetables all of the time (even when seasons have just changed). Fall can get especially annoying because everything is about apples.  Don't get me wrong, I like apples, but I don't love them and I get tired of them very quickly.

With that being said, I came across this recipe for homemade granola bars. When I found them at first, I thought it would be a great snack and what got me excited about it is that there were only three ingredients necessary.  Upon making them, I quickly realized that with the honey and peanut butter, they're a little sweet for me to consider them a granola bar and more of a dessert.  Here's how I made them.

You're going to need oats, peanut butter, and honey.  Of course you'll need a bowl, spoon, aluminum foil and a 9x9 pan to mix and set the mixture.

Combine a cup of peanut butter, half a cup of honey and three cups of oats into your bowl. Mix them until incorporated completely.

As your mixture will begin to feel more moldable, mold it into the 9x9 pan so that you can let them cool in the fridge and set into place.

Once they've cooled for a couple of hours, take out the pan and cut it into bar-sized pieces to enjoy.

I do like these!  They came out great and they tasted awesome.  What I will double down on is the fact that they are a little too sweet for me to have for breakfast.  If you're making them for your kids though, they'll love it because the sugars in them are 'good for you' sugars and have protein as well.  This is much better than something loaded with chocolate.  Let me know if you try them!  Tweet me your recreations and thank you for reading as always!

  2. Yum! Do they stay soft for a while, or do they kind of turn to mush?

    1. Best part about them.. they stay soft for a while. I even kept mine in the fridge and they were still soft. I think I'll put craisins in my next batch. What about you?

  4. I want to say that I love making my own granola bars. But the thing is that what I love is to mix granola with white chocolate and than eat them all in two days as candy. These looked really yummy though. /love Ida.
